'Murrayfield Juniors win the Scottish Inter Club Championship!
On Sunday 25th October the Murrayfield junior team played in the final of the Scottish Junior Inter-Club Championship at the Kings Course at Gleneagles where they were up against stiff competition from fellow qualifiers from Bothwell Castle, Kilmarnock Barassie and Uphall.
The team on the day was Andrew Ni, Cameron Whyte, Patrick Lawrence, Bobby Gibson, Sam Goldsmith and Andrew Grant.
In testing conditions - cold with a strong westerly breeze - the Murrayfield team produced a fantastic performance to win out by 5 shots on aggregate.
Murrayfield and the runners up, Uphall, now qualify to represent Scotland at the Home Nations Inter-Club Championship where they will compete against 6 teams from England, Ireland and Wales over a week of competition at Antequera in Spain.
This win caps off a fantastic season for the team - having already won their Lothians' Inter-Club division and finished runners up in the play-offs. The strength in depth of the team has proven invaluable with more than 14 players representing the club in matches over the year.
A big thank you to all of the team that provided invaluable support for the juniors over the year - in particular to Jackie Thurlow, Wendy Lawrence, Debbie Hay-Smith as well as all the respective family members. Thank you.
Most of all - many congratulations to all the players who have represented the team over the year and helped to deliver Murrayfield's most successful ever year for Junior Golfers!! 'Well done!!'
