Last Thursday we held our inaugural night golf event! Over 50 people took part some even wore fancy dress adding to the fun and enjoyment on the evening.
There was much hilarity as members tried to navigate their way around a special 6 hole course that had been lit up especially for the event and using special golf balls that lit up leaving a neon trace through the sky (or along the ground in some cases!)
My thanks go to Rory and his staff in the kitchen for the hearty fair that was enjoyed and to Norma and her staff for creating a cosy atmosphere in the clubhouse, which was greatly appreciated by all on their return from the course. I would also like to thank the "Night Golf Co." For setting up the course and providing the balls and lighting. I would especially like to thank all the members who came and supported this event it is certainly something that we would like to run again and look forward to your support next time.
Finally I would like to thank our very own Iain who saw the "Night Golf Co." advert a number of months ago and who was responsible for most of the planning and organisation for this event. Thanks to his enthusiasm and organisation I think it's safe to say the night was great success.
Murrayfield Mini Junior Major Winners
After another great season of Mini Junior flag competitions, medals, scrambles and invitation events the Mini Junior Order of Merit champions were finalised a week past Sunday Overall Boys winner was won by HarryHawthorn who shot the lowest gross score in every comp he played in this year (9 medals) that is not only great play but great consistency from Harry who only recently turned 10 and is playing off a MMJ handicap of 6.
BenWallace won the Handicap section of the boys Order of Merit, attending almost every event and improving greatly throughout the season Ben showed the enthusiasm and commitment that offer great rewards in this game
NatashaSimson was this year's girl's winner. Natasha has been attending the lessons at our YMG courses that we run and has found that they have prepared her well for playing on Murrayfield Golf Course. Great improvement was shown over the medals that Natasha played in and is one to watch out for in the coming years as she is still only 10 years old.
