It would mean a lot to me and those taking part if you could please make a special effort to come down on the day and cheer the players on around the course. It's our biggest competition of the year and the members playing have done really well so far. I know there's nothing better than playing golf with support from your friends and members in the crowd. But please... NO CAMERAS ALLOWED (Just kidding)!

We are delighted to announce that Alistair Murray will be presented with an MBE at this years Queens Honours Ceremony for service to the Community and the Scottish Parliament. Al has just retired from work and is very much enjoying his new career as a full time golfer! Well done Sir Al!!!

Andrew Ni has best ever SGF Finish

Our Junior Captain and last year's Club Champion had three great rounds at Cardrona near Peebles last week. The SGU events, Sponsored by Stephen Gallagher, count towards the SGU order of merit. Andrew had two amazing rounds fading only slightly in the final round but finished in a brilliant tied second place at three under par total, and was one of only four people to shoot under par in the strong field. Andrew is now cut to scratch but sadly due to prior commitments cannot defend his Club Championship this year.

Susie Beattie holes out on the seventh!!

Susie did say that the shot wasn't her best with a five wood and after a lengthy chat with the ladies in her group on the way to the green, she found the ball in the hole!!

Pro/Member Challenge Matches

For those of you still wondering what the format is: team of four including one pro £30 entry, best one stableford score per hole on the front nine, two scores per hole on the back nine. Prizes will be allocated at the end of the season to the team with the most points.

This is great fun and we thought it would be a good idea for us to get out there more often and see how good the general standard of golf is at MGC and hopefully learn something!
