Ladies Fashion Show Fun
Thank you all for coming along on Thursday, there was a great atmosphere and plenty of laughs to be had. My models Jean, Kendall, Wendy and Jackie were brilliant on the night, thank you for being great sports! My lovely wife Nicki was doing a lot of work behind the scenes to make sure the night ran so smoothly. Pictures will come in the next newsletter.
World Golf Championships - Match Play
Last year's winner, Martin Kaymer, will be firing on all cylinders to make it back to back titles!
The 17th is great fun to watch, even though they are hitting a short iron or wedge into the green, it's amazing how nerves get the better of them. It certainly makes it interesting when it's a tight finish down the stretch on Sunday!
Junior/MMJ Scramble
What a field! What weather! What drama!!
No I'm not talking about the most recent European or PGA Tour event, I'm talking about the Junior/Mini Junior scramble held here on Sunday afternoon.
The current Club Champion and Junior Captain, Andrew Ni, and Vice Captain, Bobby Gibson, were amongst 14 juniors who captained the mixed teams in this fun event, which was played out in classic "four seasons in one day" weather. Teams played in bright sunshine, hail and chilly winds to, in the process returning some great scores.
The feedback from competitors and parents was unanimous - a worthy event! Whilst being great fun, it also allowed the Murrayfield Mini Juniors an opportunity to play with some of our most promising junior golfers, many of whom are now playing off low single figure handicaps.
The results were as follows:
Adam Hawthorn (J), Charlie Campbell (J), Oscar Masters (MMJ) & Harry Hawthorn (MMJ) 27.5
Fraser Maclean (J), Joe Stephenson (J), Jake McGlynn (MMJ) 29
Andrew Grant (J), Alastair Adam (J), Ben Wallace (MMJ) 29.5
Photos of all the competitors are posted on the Junior/MMJ board in the main clubhouse
Well done and we'll see you on the 10th May for the next Junior/MMJ Order of Merit event.
St Leonards Trophy at St Andrews
Abby Steedman, one of our promising young ladies, played in the St Leonards Trophy at St Andrews last Friday.
Abby was delighted to win the U11 category of the above competition on Friday. She had her first round under 100 scoring a 99 (98 adjusted) which gave her a nett 63. She got her first birdie on the 284 yard 7th hole and she also won the longest drive competition.
It was played on the Strathtyrum Course in St. Andrews.
Abby is clearly loving golf at the moment and we would love for some more girls to take up the game and enjoy it as much as she does. Well done on all the hard work and dedication to improving Abby!!
