Murrayfield Ladies success The morning chilly weather turned into a scorching hot day & the Ladies golf matched it suitably! Val & Vicki‘s golf never wavered & on a day when any stray shots were heavily punished Val’s driving & fairway to green shots were precise & Vicki‘s ability to put some great putts away & some lovely chips onto the greens, securing birdies at the 4th & 9th holes, saw them produce good scores of 85 (nett 71.5) & 87 (nett 73.5). Marie & Denise had a tidy score of 88 (nett 73.5) which they improved on to produce a great 85 (nett 70.5) in the afternoon. Having been really consistent for both rounds, they held their nerve to navigate the water & secure a good par 5 on the last! The team captained by Marie Vandepeear along with Denise Mitchell, Val Mackenzie & Vicki Cullen were first equal with Dalmahoy after the first round. Having a early tee time & securing the lead after the 2 rounds, the ladies then faced a long wait to see if their score was good enough to hold off any other teams. Typically, the last team out Kingsknowe, looked as if they were heading for a good score to knock the Murrayfield Ladies off their first place.....news came in that they found the water on the last hole but when the final scores were finalised the Murrayfield Ladies did not have to worry as their score of 289 was good enough to win by an impressive 11 shots from the Dalmahoy ’B’ Team & 14 shots better than the Kingskowe ‘A’ Team. Congratulations also to Denise on her hat trick of wins in the Morison Millar! The Ladies ‘A’ Team of Margaret Fergusson, Norma Richmond, Jane Neville & Mari Deans did not manage to feature in the prizes but had some great play with Jane consistently finding the green on the tricky Par 3, 6th & 12th holes & birdies for Mari & Jane at the 11th on both visits! Gross 91 (nett76.5) & 88 (73.5). Margaret & Norma had some great play but couldn’t find their ‘A’ game on the day. Gross 91 (nett 81) & 86 (nett 76). A huge thank you to Marie for all her organisation & to all the caddies & supporters.
