An exciting week of golf was marred by some poor weather, but the matches were "sizzling" hot! Well done to all those who made it to the knockout stages and especially to those that played on finals day on Sunday. It was great to see a lot of new faces contesting for these coveted trophies. Patrick Lawrence defeated Alan Daley on the 36th hole to become one of the youngest Gents Club Champions ever having just turned 16 last month! Brian Anderson and Stuart Longair contested the Gents "B" Division final with the match again going deep into their 36 hole final with Brian narrowly defeating Stuart in a great match. Margaret Ferguson, a previous Ladies Champion won again with some faultless golf defeating Caroline Johnston in the final of the Ladies. Abby Steedman won against last year's Champion Lauren Metcalfe, we have all heard how talented she is but to win at the age of 11 is very impressive! Some of the finest golf of the day was played in the Junior final contested by Stuart Thurlow and Robb Hawthorn. They had a fantastic 11 birdies between them in a game that went to the 1st extra hole. Stuart managed to close the game out with a birdie on the 18th and the first extra hole to win in a dramatic fashion, well done to the both of you!

Al Murray Celebrates First Hole in One
Al Murray got a hole in one at the 13th hole on Wednesday in the Senior Gents Merson Trophy. It is Al's first hole in one and even though he said so his self it was "a beautifully struck 8 iron". He is pictured with his Grandson Harper, who came to help him pick up the car after a few celebratory drinks the day before.
