Remember, our short game area is to be officially opened on Friday, 28 August at 6pm. We will be having professional golfer Richie Ramsey there to open the practice area and he will also be doing some demonstrations shots around the green. If you want to take advantage of his expert knowledge, and see what it takes around the greens to succeed at the top of the game, please make sure you're in attendance!

Richie Ramsay is a Scottish professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. In 2006, Ramsay became the first British golfer in almost a century to win the U.S. Amateur. He also won several other amateur titles and played in the 2005 Walker Cup. Richie has won 3 times on the European Tour, most recently winning the Hassan 2 Trophy in Morocco earlier this year. Richie is currently in the top 80 of the World Golf Rankings and has been tipped as a future Ryder Cup Player!

Putter Fitting Day - 22 August 11am-3pm 

We will be holding our own putter fitting day with brands including Odyssey, PING, TaylorMade and Wilson. 

The importance of a putter fitting 

We hold lots of fitting days for the leading manufacturers for all the clubs and we also have fitted many of our members for clubs, but putter fittings are still something new to people we've found. 

Remember we offer a FREE fitting with any new putter. We recognise the importance in having the right equipment. You need to trust it so that you can then put a good stroke on the putt.  


Virtually every Tour player is fitted individually to their putter, but almost no amateur players do that! The average height of a PGA Tour player today is 6' and he uses a 33.5 inch putter on average. You guys are using a 35 inch putter on average because that is the "standard" putter. A properly fit putter will allow you to set up with your hips over your ankles, your hands under your shoulders with a little bend in the elbows and your eyes over the ball.

It's Jason's Day

The reaction of Day when he sank that putt says it all, his caddie Swatton and him finally got what they deserved. Without trawling through the internet for statistics, it's a fair assumption to say that Jason Day has been one of the most consistent golfer in majors in recent years. Like Andy Murray beating Djokovic after losing 8 consecutive matches against him, Jason Day will also feel that massive psychological boost (just like Murray) from breaking into the record books with a major win! 

Brooke Henderson: LPGA Portland Classic victory for teenager

Henderson shoots a brilliant 4 rounds in the 60's to take the victory. With that win she also joins the record books with being only the third ever teenager before the age of 18 to win on the LPGA, Lydia Ko and Lexi Thompson are the other two. 



 



Eric leads the way over the Boy's Order of Merit!

One of our lowest golfers in our club Eric McIntosh, who is still a junior and plays off a 2 handicap. We wish him the very best of finishes in the remaining rounds and hopefully he will triumph just like Jason Day has and win! It's fantastic to see the strength of our junior section, they are doing our proud on the national scene!

The gap between the top two in the Boys' Order of Merit is a lot tighter with four events to go. Eric McIntosh (Murrayfield) is still out in front, but Turnhouse's Rory Henderson closed the deficit to 61 points after getting in the mix at Gifford. Dunbar's Connor Wilson won there to leap into joint-third alongside Cameron Gallagher (Longniddry).
