Wilson FG Tour

Try out Wilson's latest FG Tour M3 range in store now!

The three fairway wood head options come standard at initial lofts of 13.5°, 15.0° and 17.0° but they can be adjusted from 12.5° to 19.0° in half degree increments. Take the guess work out and let us do the work to set your clubs up for you. Come to the Wilson fitting day next Friday and see how well they form.

This range has a dark 'iced matte' finish, it looks awesome, come and see for yourself!

How clean are your clubs really?

I've done a before and after picture of what a 'normal' golfer's clubs looks like as they are playing golf (If you clean your clubs and carry around a groove cleaner and towel then this doesn't apply to you!).

All golfers (well almost all!) have heard people saying the term 'flyer'. A flyer is when you unfortunately see the ball going further than expected; generally it's on a tight hole (like the 9th) where your ball sails the green into the rubbish at the back. Sound familiar?

The grooves on your club have a specific purpose; to grab the ball's surface and impart backspin. If your club has grooves full of dirt or grass then the ball will spin less, fly further, then bounce with less control and roll rather than skipping and stopping soon (ish) after landing. That is the same effect from the rough when you get the 'flyer lie'.

To prevent this happening to you, wipe the club with your towel after you have hit a shot so that you don't get it costing you shots next time round. Grooves are your friend, give the water somewhere to go so that the ball doesn't skid up the face without spinning.

We have some fantastic new menus from our catering managers that we would love for you to come along and enjoy.

First, we have our Bistro night on Friday 21st March where it is 2 courses for £14.95 or 3 courses for £19.95. Click here to see this menu.

We also have a special Mother's Day menu for Sunday 30th March (I'm sure you all knew that). Click here to see this menu.

Mini Junior and Junior Games Nights

Over the past couple of weeks Duncan, Iain and myself have been entertaining the new and current Mini Junior and Juniors on their separate nights. We ran a quiz and games night and had catering for the Junior night. Everyone seemed to have fun (so they have told us!) joining in with each other with a great atmosphere.

We are proud of our whole Junior section and are keen to develop them into the future at Murrayfield, they are already an integral part of this club. Some Juniors are amongst the lowest handicapped golfers in the club and represent us well in competitions nationwide. If  you'd like to get involved with these nights please speak to us in the pro shop.

Have a great week and I hope to see you all on the course at the weekend

Why playing with the right golf ball is essential

Playing with the wrong ball could be compromising your feel around the green and performance off the tee. It pays to consider what ball you play in relation to your ability.
