Lydia Ko becomes Women’s World Number One

Lydia Ko becomes golf's youngest world number one at the age of 17, this beats Tiger Woods’ achievement of his previous top spot by four years. Woods was 21 when he was world’s number one. It’s brilliant to see Lydia Ko, from New Zealand, doing so well! This should have a positive impact on young female participation in golf.

Jonnie and Keir McNicoll finish T4 at Craigielaw PGA Winter Four Ball

Jonnie was at Craigielaw this week playing in the winter series four ball event, he partnered Gullane Professional Keir McNicoll. They finished tied 4th with a gross 69, just three shots off the winners with a gross 66.

Don’t just take our word for it, in a recent article in Golf WRX (the world's premier online golf community), an independent review by Kane Cochrane raves about the extreme long distance achieved by the new R15 Driver. He says:

“Players who consistently hit the ball off the sweet spot will find the R15 generates crazy low spin and extremely long distance, possibly even their longest drives ever... During testing I hit drives that sniffed the 300 yard mark, something that for me typically only happens with a strong Florida wind at my back.” 

“The R15 460 (10.5 degrees) with the weights set to neutral performed the best for me. Not only did I hit more of my longest drives with this club, on average it was the lowest spinning (not including the R15 430) with the most consistent launch angle, a recipe for long drives that also stay close to the fairway.”

Rule 24- Moveable Obstruction

Usually every golfer who plays finds themselves in a bunker or two in a round of golf (except you jammy few!), some just hit the ball as it lies without thinking of what could obstruct the club to ball as you are in a 'hazard'.

It says on the back of the scorecard under our local rules, "stones in bunkers can be removed".

In rules, it says "if the ball does not lie in or on the obstruction, the obstruction may be removed. If the ball moves, it must be replaces, and there is no penalty, provided that the movement of the ball is directly attributable to the removal of the obstruction".
