On Friday we had the Streetwork/ AWG Pro-Am, it was a great success and with everyone’s generous support managed to raise £6500 for the Streetwork Charity.
Iain, George Shaw, Sheila Hunter and Jack Duthie represented Murrayfield well, with a respectable -14 which put them in 6th position, just one place from the prizes! It was a good team effort all round but a special mention has to go to Sheila, she was the rock for the team and played excellent! There were also the Pro’s prizes too for the lowest golfer, Iain shot a level par 70 to come 14th out of 24. There were most of the top 25 Scottish full time playing Pro’s playing so Iain was pleased to be placed in the middle, he was also the only one to have an eagle on the day. The eagle came on the 9th when he putted from off the green to help his team on their way to a strong back nine finish.

Hole in One Week Bonanza!
Gordon Porteous had his first hole in one on the 2nd hole last week! It was an 8 iron that was, "on the flag the whole way" Gordon said That is a hole which is rarely ever had a hole in one so well done! Gordon went on to win the senior gents stableford that day with a great 42 points.
Sylvia Boyd had a hole in one on the 7th in the Ladies Shotgun Foursomes on Thursday, her playing partner must have enjoyed a leisurely walk up to the green knowing they had an Eagle in the bag!
Fantastic Finals Day with Stephen Gallacher
On a fabulous day we held our 2014 Finals Day at Kingsfield Golf Club, Linlithgow. In total we had 146 boys and girls taking part which, with all the parents as well, meant around 350 attending. Stephen Gallacher was on hand for all the children and there for all the presentation of prizes, clearly with his performances he is inspiring all the children, who all wished Stephen great success for the forthcoming Ryder Cup by presenting him with a card of thanks.
Special mention though to Abby Steedman who won our World Match Play beating all 146 competitiors throughout the day an excellent result for one of our Under 10 Girls.

It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of two long standing, popular members of the golf club last week.
Sandra Methven had been a lady member for over 30 years and was a regular in the ladies section up until the onset of her illness this year. She will be missed by many.
Bill Denny was well known by all in the golf club and contributed greatly to all sections of the club. Despite his illness he still acted as secretary to the senior section until only a few weeks ago. Over the years Bill was very kind and generous to me personally and will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with his wife Rosemary.
