Girls golf

Abby Steedman was first in the U14 section of the East of Scotland Girls Autumn Meeting, 45 - 8 (37), which was also 3rd best nett on the day. The weather at Falkirk Golf Club was awful & the competition had to be reduced to 9 holes.

Lucy Fraser who has just joined MCLGA & along with 9 other girls, played in the Junior Championship at Newbattle Golf Course. It was dry for most of the day but the wind made it quite tricky. Lucy came runner-up in the handicap with a nett 69 (29) & reduces her handicap again. Lucy has been taking lessons with Duncan over the summer who had this to say.

“Lucy has been great to work with, not only does she apply what she has learned in the lessons out on the golf course she plays as often as she can in medals. Her enthusiasm and application for the game has meant she has seen her handicap come tumbling down this season… keep it going Lucy”

Scottish County Finals

The final results were very close with Aberdeenshire, Renfrewshire & Midlothian all on 2 points with 2 wins & 1 loss a piece.

Aberdeeenshire were the winners with 15.5 game points, with Renfrewshire on 15.5 & Midlothian on 14.5.

All the matches were very close but a highlight would be a comeback from Midlothian v. Aberdeenshire. After a 2.5 - 0.5 loss in the Foursomes in the morning, the Midlothian team pulled off a good 5-1 win in the singles in the afternoon against a strong Aberdeenshire team.
