Murrayfield Juniors Win Edinburgh Junior League 

In an incredible final on Sunday the 4th of September at Harburn Golf Club, Murrayfield beat Royal Burgess in the 6 man play-off to win the league for the first time! 

Neither team have won this event in their club history which gave the tie even more of a competitive edge. Murrayfield narrowly lost to Turnhouse in last year's final and so were determined to go one better this year. 

The team comprised of Bobby Gibson (capt), Robb Hawthorn, Patrick Lawrence, Stuart Thurlow, Arran Hastings, and Sam Goldsmith who have been the mainstay of the team this season. Both teams were evenly matched, with Murrayfield having to concede no more than 6 shots in the last 3 handicap matches. 

From the outset Robb, Patrick and Stuart were up in their matches and maintained their lead until completion. The other 3 matches were nail-biting contests with all of them finishing on the 18th with Bobby and Sam securing a half point each. Bobby secured victory for Murrayfield with a birdie on the 18th. The final score was Murrayfield 4 Burgess 2. 

This deserved success has allowed the team to compete in the preliminary stages of the Scottish Interclub Championships with the first round at Bothwell Castle on Saturday 10th September.
